Donglin Electronics Jia Qiang: To fight against the EU together (Figure)

Editor's Note: Since 2001, the EU has held high anti-dumping sticks and imposed heavy taxes on Chinese energy-saving lamps companies. Affected by this, the domestic energy-saving lamp enterprises were once in trouble, and the high anti-dumping tax rate of 66% made many companies discouraged and reluctant to give up the EU's mockery." For the next six years, the Chinese government and The energy-saving lamp company represented by Donglin Electronics actively responded to the lawsuit. In the end of September this year, the European Commission gave the final result, or it will be extended for one year on the basis of six years ago. Although the result is not Not as perfect as expected, but the EU has been shortened from the original five years to the final result.

So, in the past six years, what has Xiamen Donglin Electronics done to enable the EU to cancel anti-dumping duties? What are the unknown stories that have happened in the process? When most companies are silent, Jia Qiang, the general manager of Xiamen Donglin Electronics, relies on what kind of force, let him work tirelessly for six years, and stick to the end? With all kinds of questions, we invited Mr. Jia Qiang, the general manager of Xiamen Donglin Electronics, to be the guest of “Light Source Appliances? Cover Character”.

——Interview with Jia Qiang, General Manager of Xiamen Donglin Electronics

"Justice" has a chance

Reporter: First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Jia for accepting our interview. As we all know, since the EU imposed anti-dumping heavy taxes on Chinese energy-saving lamps companies in 2001, domestic light source companies have grievances, but there is no specific action. At that time, what kind of consideration were you in, and you were struggling to fight against the EU?

Jia Qiang: First of all, it should be a dissatisfied mentality. I am from Shaanxi, and the environment in Shaanxi is poor. Therefore, Shaanxi people are born with a kind of arrogance with Tiandou and the land. Then when the EU began anti-dumping against China's energy-saving lamps enterprises in 2001, I first thought that this lawsuit was unreasonable, and then thought about the consequences of this lawsuit. As a result, I found that if we do not fight this lawsuit, we will only let us automatically withdraw from the EU market, and we will continue to suffer unfair treatment in the future. If you hit this lawsuit, there is still a glimmer of hope to stay, and considering this, I will fight. As for what the result would be, I didn't think too much at the time. Sometimes thinking too much is just a burden to yourself.

Reporter: The reason why this response can make the EU and OSRAM finally give in, what do you think is the key reason?

Jia Qiang: The key should still be a kind of persistent belief and continuous efforts, and the national government and many media have played a major role in our solidarity and help. After the lawsuit was launched, we collectively issued an appeal to seven energy-saving lamp companies representing more than 50% of China's production, and asked Osram to withdraw the lawsuit. Officials from the Ministry of Commerce learned that the news took the initiative to call us to understand the situation and expressed concern. Afterwards, the leaders of the Ministry of Commerce and the German authorities have made many representations. In addition, Xiamen City of Fujian Province has always attached great importance to protecting intellectual property rights and responding to trade barriers. It has also set up an “anti-dumping advisory center” and established an “anti-dumping response fund”. To support enterprises that respond to foreign anti-dumping cases. With these as a backing, our efforts have made a real breakthrough. Therefore, what I want to say is that uniting and fighting international trade barriers can protect common interests.

"To win the lawsuit" will unite all forces

Reporter: How many times have you been to and from Beijing for this, remember? What have you done in this? What difficulties have you encountered? How is it solved?

Jia Qiang: The Ministry of Commerce has given us great support in this regard. In this regard, I must express my gratitude to the officials of the Ministry of Commerce. Of course, they also have difficulties in their work, and we both work together to do this.

As for the work we have done, it is mainly to unite all enterprises and businesses that can be united. I also want to thank my team. In the face of a lot of review materials and measures, Donglin did not retreat, because of their support, so I have the confidence to go.

Reporter: In the face of the EU and competitors' prosecution, what are the biggest difficulties to win? Have you ever thought about giving up such pressure? In the face of a strong opponent, what power is it that you are not falling? Where is your fighting spirit coming from?

Jia Qiang: The biggest difficulty should still be too lonely. Under the unfair treatment of the EU, the EU treats China's relatively perfect market economy with discriminatory principles, which has caused serious damage to Chinese private enterprises. Most of the Chinese private enterprises that have been harmed have chosen “no snoring”. I think it is the strength of our company that is so strong that our opponents are worried that there is no way to overcome us through normal commercial competition. Only then will we use various trade protection measures to seek “asylum” of public power. Since the "opponents" are guilty of guilty conscience, we should have more confidence in ourselves, so why not go to respond?
