The display is one of the most important components in augmented reality hardware. A few days ago, display developer Avegant completed a financing of 12 million US dollars for the development of next-generation AR displays.
Considering that this company has experienced a relatively turbulent year, this new financing is particularly good news for the team. In February of this year, Avegant reduced its staff to about 20 R&D personnel, and founder Ed Tang re-elected as CEO.
Now, Avegant no longer promotes the development of its display technology through the development kit launched in November 2017, but focuses on the development of retina display technology for the consumer segment.
Ed Tang said in a statement: "The consumer AR industry is facing major challenges in developing high-resolution, small form factor, large field of view, light field and low power consumption displays. The industry is committed to us to develop corresponding unique solutions. Excited, this will bring an AR experience that was impossible before."
