The first smart glasses featuring a built-in Alexa digital assistant will make their debut at the 2018 CES show, and Vuzix has been heavily investing in the development of "video glasses." During the event, the company received multiple awards for its "Video Glasses" and related technologies. The price is set at $1,000, which is approximately 6,830 yuan.
According to reports from foreign media, while Amazon created the Alexa digital assistant, it was Vuzix, a wearable device manufacturer, that brought this technology to smart glasses. The company plans to launch the product in 2018.

Vuzix CEO Paul Travers recently spoke with reporters about the AR glasses equipped with Alexa. Although details about the performance are still unclear, Travers mentioned that Alexa's information will appear within the user's field of vision.
Amazon’s licensing program allows third-party companies to integrate Alexa into various devices. Vuzix used this program to develop its smart glasses, making it the first company to apply Alexa technology to such a product. Alexa is already widely used in speakers and smartphone docks, but now it’s being introduced to smart glasses.
Amazon confirmed Vuzix’s product, and a company spokesperson expressed excitement about the potential of the smart glasses in the market and how it could expand Alexa’s reach.
The smart glasses with built-in Alexa are expected to be available in the second quarter of this year for $1,000 (about 6,830 yuan). Analysts predict that by 2019, the price could drop below $500 (around 3,422 yuan).
Founded in 1997, Vuzix has focused on developing "video glasses" for years. At the 2018 CES, the company unveiled the Vuzix Blade AR smart glasses and also announced a companion app that connects the glasses to Android or iOS devices.
Vuzix has a strong history at CES, having won awards for 13 consecutive years, all related to "video glasses" and associated technologies.
Meanwhile, Apple has long been rumored to be working on an augmented reality headset. Rumors about the product date back to 2015. In October, Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned that the technology wasn’t yet ready.
In an interview at the time, Cook said, “The display technology requires something big enough to sit on your face, and there are huge challenges.†Technical issues, such as providing optical components with sufficient visibility, have made it difficult to bring the concept to consumer products.
