LG introduced 98-inch 8K TV in the second half of 2016

LG Display previously announced that it will invest 8.7 billion US dollars to develop OLED display technology. At this week’s CES, LG Display will showcase R&D results in this area.

For new display technologies, LG Display may not introduce too many commercial products. The company is paying attention to display devices other than TVs and smart phones.

LG Display's equipment includes an 18-inch, curlable OLED display that can be rolled up like a newspaper. In addition, LG will also display a 55-inch OLED TV. This TV is a split-type design that separates the electronics section from the display to ensure that the display is slim.

For the automotive electronics market, LG Display expects that the LCD screen will dominate the car center console. The company will show a 25-inch "waterfall" curved LCD panel. In addition, another 10.3-inch panel will support gloved touch.

Previously, LG Display has launched a smart phone panel with AIT (Advanced In-Cell Touch) technology, which is currently being used for notebook screens. LG Display will launch two 11.6-inch and 23-inch products.

In contrast, ordinary televisions, whether they are LCD TVs or OLED TVs, do not have much new technology. However, the size of the television is still increasing. LG announced this week that it plans to launch a 98-inch 8K TV in the second half of 2016.
