Power board.jpg In July 2010, I came across a Hisense TPW4211 plasma TV with no sound and a black screen. I had never worked on an LCD plasma TV before, but I wanted to practice my skills and advised the customer to go home. After checking online, many sources suggested that capacitors C523 and C524 were likely the issue due to their proximity to the heat sink, causing them to degrade over time. The after-sales service said they would check it for free, but if not repaired, there would be a 50 yuan inspection fee. I agreed. Later, I was told the power board was faulty, and replacing it cost around 1,000 yuan. The repair shop quoted 1,200 yuan, but the user had already moved out of town, so I offered a lower price. However, I later felt 1,000 was too expensive, especially if the problem returned. I consulted a senior engineer who said it might not be necessary. Then, I found a similar power board online for only 400 yuan, but I was hesitant about buying it online. Eventually, I decided to try fixing it myself. I registered on a forum and connected with other enthusiasts who shared their experiences. Inspired by their stories, I decided to take on the challenge. The TV was worth more than 10,000 yuan back then, and I just wanted to learn. After some research and discussions, I removed the power board and tested it. By short-circuiting the PS_ON pin to ground, I confirmed the power supply was working. But when I checked the voltages, I noticed the VS voltage didn’t reach the expected 91V, only rising to 30V. This led me to inspect the capacitors closely. After careful examination, I found two capacitors had failed. I replaced them using parts from a scrap board. Finally, after testing, everything worked perfectly! I couldn’t believe it—I fixed a 13,000 yuan plasma TV without spending a single penny. It was an incredible feeling! Here are some details about my repair process. I hope this helps others who may face similar issues. Plasma TVs aren't as complicated as they seem.
