LCD panel price diving! A big wave of TVs is going to cut prices

Since last year, panel prices have entered a steep upward trend, directly pushing up the retail prices of TVs across the board, with the most significant increases seen in smaller screen sizes. This situation has put a lot of pressure on TV manufacturers. The prolonged fluctuations in LCD panel prices, which lasted nearly a year, forced major players—especially internet TV brands—to adjust their marketing strategies. However, according to the latest panel market survey from a research institution, after nearly a year of price hikes, TV panel prices began to ease in June, and the decline became more pronounced in August and September. Particularly for large-screen panels, prices dropped sharply, with all sizes experiencing a downward trend. Mid-sized panels, such as 65-inch, 55-inch, and 40-43-inch models, are expected to see deeper price reductions. Recent data shows that panel prices in October remained lower than before, indicating a continuing trend of price relief. On the 32-inch scale, supply and demand remain balanced, keeping prices slightly stable. In the 39.5- to 43-inch range, some 40-inch panels were re-entered into the market, causing an average price drop of over $5 in September, with another $5 expected in October. The 43-inch segment is expected to see continued supply growth, maintaining a $6 decline rate in both months. For the 49- to 50-inch range, the 49-inch supply remains steady, but prices continue to fall by $5. Meanwhile, 50-inch supply is increasing, leading to higher inventory levels. Prices are expected to drop by $7 in October, gradually narrowing the gap between 49-inch and 50-inch models, possibly even reaching the same price point. On the 55-inch side, demand has started to recover. Although prices fell by $5 in September, they are expected to maintain a narrower decline of $5 in October. For larger sizes, however, terminal sales haven’t been aggressive, and manufacturers still face inventory pressures. It’s anticipated that prices will drop by more than $10 in October. Overall, the decline in panel prices indicates a period of adjustment for TV products. While the current market trend is flattening, it's likely that a small price cut will happen soon, with the most significant reductions expected during the Double 11 shopping festival. Therefore, if you're planning to buy a large TV, it might be wise to wait a bit and consider purchasing around Double 11 or New Year’s Day for the best deals.
