Intelligent LED indoor lighting system based on ZigBee module

The maturity of wireless communication technologies such as ZigBee and Wi-Fi has made LED indoor lighting "intelligent" a reality. We can imagine a picture where the owner returns home and opens the door at night, and the LED lights in the living room will automatically start and automatically adjust to the most suitable color temperature according to the indoor light. When the owner enters the bedroom, the LED lights in the living room are automatically turned off, and the bedroom lights are automatically adjusted to the reading mode; when you are resting, the LED lights are automatically turned off.

"This is no longer a picture in science fiction movies, but our real life." Murata, deputy manager of marketing department of Murata Electronics Trading (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Murata Electronics") said that Murata Electronics is targeting LEDs. The intelligent control system has entered the final modulation stage, software development has been completed, and the upgrade will be fully introduced to the market.

The definition of "intelligent control" is to carry out the independent regulation technology of LED lamps without human intervention. In short, if the adjustment of LED lights can only be achieved by touching the buttons, it is obviously excluded from "smart". In addition to the sensitivity, low power consumption, and stability of the control system, how to use the simplest operation to give the user the most comfortable feeling is a problem that the buyer is more concerned about.

According to Tang Wei, this set of LED indoor lighting system mainly uses ZigBee low-speed short-distance transmission wireless network protocol. The main features of this network protocol are low power consumption, low cost, low speed, support for a large number of nodes, and support network. Topology, low complexity, fast, reliable, and safe features are being adopted by more and more intelligent control companies.

According to the reporter's understanding, 433 is one of the more systems used by intelligent control companies. The 433 system is relatively inexpensive, but this physical transmission is not equipped with unified software. It is easy to have compatibility problems in each self-development. At the same time, the 433 system has a low frequency range and is susceptible to signal interference.

“After testing, we found that a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer may interfere with the 433 signal, so we resolutely gave up the development of the 433 system.” Tang Wei said, “The physical bottom layer higher than IEEE802.15.4 can be written into the ZigBee network protocol. The software underneath achieves more stable intelligent control."

After the LED intelligent control system receives the environmental information through the front-end remote sensing and wirelessly transmits, the ZigBee module accepts the wireless signal to issue instructions to the LED light fixture to finally realize wireless control. In terms of remote sensing, according to the reporter, the current integration is more inductive components including human body infrared sensing, vibration or shock sensors, light control sensors, temperature and humidity sensors and other control methods. The human body infrared, vibration sensing is used more frequently in the LED intelligent control system, especially for indoor home and commercial lighting.

“We are envisioning the addition of gas sensing to the entire smart home system, but we are still investigating the scope of gas screening.” Tang Wei said that in addition to CO2, we hope to include formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, gas and other gas detection. Automatic alarm is achieved by cooperation with intelligent security.

When the reporter asked if the system was loaded into the tablet or the computer occupied the memory, Tang Wei said that since the LED lighting relies entirely on the gateway to process the signal, even if the smart home software program is installed, it will not affect the application of the mobile phone or the computer. At present, the standard control software for Google Android for mobile phones has been developed, and the embedded web control is entered by logging in the IP address and entering the username and password. Because Murata has control interface technology, the interface developed for Apple's ISO system is very fast. The control interface is very simple, with one click control for on, off and color temperature as long as you click.

In order to take care of the operation of the elderly and children, Murata Electronics has also developed a touch control panel in the system, and the click panel can also achieve full control of the LED lamps. "If customers need personalized control, we can also develop control software, but the development cycle depends on the actual requirements of customers." Tang said.

For the tablet's control interface, Murata Electronics designed four sets of scene modes for meeting, rest, etc., as long as you click the relevant button to achieve one-click control. "We implemented the interface design concept of IFTTT and are upgrading our interface again." Tang said.
