Fusion-io SSD expands 1.28TB

Fusion-io, which specializes in ultra-high-performance PCI-E interface solid-state drives, announced that its enterprise-class ioDrive Duo product has been upgraded. By using 3xnm process MLC flash memory, the maximum capacity of a single card has doubled to 1.28TB.

Fusion-io said that with the improvement of reliability and life span, coupled with the huge cost advantage, MLC flash memory is not only occupying the civilian SSD market, but even enterprise data centers are gradually turning to MLC flash products. The new ioDrive Duo relies on MLC flash memory to launch 640GB and 1.28TB capacity products, while the 320GB model still maintains SLC flash memory.

The ioDrive Duo based on the PCI-E interface is more intimidating than ordinary SATA-interface civilian SSDs. The 64KB data operation has been considered as read and write bandwidth (sequential read and write), and the 1.28TB top version data is read at 1.1GB/s and written at 1.5GB/s. The random read/write performance is calculated as 512 bytes instead of 4 KB, reading 185,000 IOPS, writing 278,000 IOPS, and reading/writing a mix (75% reading 25% writing) 150,000 IOPS. The read delay is 30 microseconds and the write delay is 2 microseconds. Supports 64-bit Windows operating systems and Red Hat, SUSE, and Oracle enterprise Linux systems.

Fusion-io said that in addition to its superior performance, its product features include no batteries or large capacity capacitors, which guarantees data integrity during power-down. Self-healing Flashback protection technology provides RAID-like redundancy at the chip level. Due to the card expansion design, the original user can also directly upgrade the flash memory module.
