Recent price cuts of 20,000 have widened the gap between the Haval H7 and the Great Wall WEY. The lowest offer now stands at 15,000. Could this be part of Haval's strategy to meet year-end sales targets? Some netizens believe the Haval H7 is in a tough spot, with certain models priced very similarly to its parent brand. Between the Haval H6, H8, and even the WEY line, it’s unclear where the H7 truly fits. Without the attention drawn by the H6, the H7 seems to be struggling for visibility.

As an SUV that sits between the H6 and H8, the H7 is definitely larger than the H6. However, unlike the H6 and H8, it doesn’t try to stand out with a bold design. It’s a mid-size SUV that offers decent value. At around 160,000, there are many合资 brands (joint ventures) that could compete. Within the H series, only the H6 and H2 are popular, while the rest remain relatively unnoticed. The H7 isn't immune to this trend. After all, the Great Wall brand still has some room for improvement.

In terms of design, the H7 has taken a different approach compared to previous models. It offers a wide range of options for consumers, with a strong family-style aesthetic. This style, however, limits its appeal and makes it hard to compete with models like the Changan CS95 or GAC GS8. A 2.0T engine with spacious interiors should make it a strong contender at around 150,000. But the H7 still struggles to break free from its limitations.

A seven-seat version is also available, featuring a 2+3+2 layout. While the last two seats are more for show than practical use, the second row can be adjusted, offering better comfort for passengers. This kind of feature makes it competitive with high-end joint venture models. Even though self-owned brands have their advantages, few consumers choose them. Why go for a 160,000 model when you can opt for Japanese or German cars?

Despite having excellent specifications, the H7's 2.0T turbocharged engine may be a downside. High fuel consumption is a concern, as some users report consuming up to one liter per 100 km after a few years of use. While the car offers features like a 360-degree camera system, large sunroof, blind spot detection, and lane assist, the fuel efficiency issue remains a drawback.

The automatic parking function is still under testing. Although it adds convenience, the H7 hasn't fully mastered it, which affects driving comfort. However, the chassis and suspension are solid, effectively absorbing road vibrations. Noise insulation is also decent. If you can get a well-equipped model for around 150,000, these minor issues might be acceptable.

Among Haval models, there are red and blue versions. The H7L extended version brings a more aggressive look, with 20-inch wheels that add power and presence. The red version features a U-shaped grille and night lights, giving it a commanding appearance. While interior and exterior maintenance might not be perfect, the spacious cabin is satisfying for home use.

Overall, Great Wall Motor still holds a strong position compared to its competitors. Despite using its own engines, it often faces criticism. Though engine performance needs improvement, it's important to keep refining. Considering the current pricing, Great Wall seems sincere in its efforts. Can it match the likes of Changan and Geely? In many ways, yes—but much of its success still relies on the H6.
