San Diego, California, USA, April 2015 - The Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) announced today that the OMA Universal Open Terminal API (GotAPI) standard version 1.0 has been officially released. OMA GotAPI is a complete framework that enables web-based device APIs to work seamlessly on smartphones such as Android devices or Apple phones. With GotAPI, applications can work with smartphones and external IoT devices that use web technologies.
Devices such as watches, cameras, smart glasses, toys, healthcare devices and even cars are connected to smartphones, and OMA GotAPI enables these devices to be connected to smartphones or other devices in a standardized way. Developers can develop applications that are compatible with a variety of devices based on this, without having to go through the development of each system as much as before. Applications running through the browser can be steadily connected to external devices on any operating system, enabling developers to create a whole new ecosystem of interoperable devices and applications. The open architecture provided by GotAPI reduces the complexity of developers writing applications for smart devices and extends the market coverage of applications.

The OMA Content Delivery WG started the development of the GotAPI standard in the first quarter of 2014 and successfully released the framework for the standard in February 2015. The development of the GotAPI standard has been widely supported by OMA members including NTT DOCOMO, which contributed its device connection to WebAPI as the basis for the development of OMA GotAPI.

OMA member Vuzix demonstrated OMA GotAPI at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ​​Spain: Demonstration of the live video stream from the Vuzix M100 smart glasses to the remote computer browser window.
