Internally, it was said that the team's top management had announced the dissolution of the core team. Many projects have been suspended. Most of the employees have left, and the withdrawal of shareholders' irreparability has caused the company to face bankruptcy. This is embarrassing.

This incident has attracted the attention of domestic industry experts after exposure. According to sources, the bankruptcy of QD VISION Taiwan Company means that capital will see a decline in the future prospects of quantum dot TV. Previously, Gaogong LED also specifically explained the trend of LED light source of quantum dot technology.

Just five months ago, QD VISION CEO still said that “there will be a full-fledged power point display technology”.

Quantum tube is the main backlight material of a generation of quantum dot TV. QD VISION is one of the important suppliers of quantum dot TV enterprises in mainland China.

Due to the sudden incident, related quantum dot TV companies had to seek new supplier solutions.

Since 2015, media reports on OLEDs have emerged in an endless stream, and many of them have entered the capital. For example, Huaxing Optoelectronics, which has been refusing to enter the OLED field, has decided to raise 50 billion yuan into the high-generation LCD and AMOLED panel field; while another large panel giant, BOE, has begun to produce OLED panel capacity, and it is likely to be next year. Large-size OLED panels are launched in half a year.

       In one go, the attitude of capital to OLED TV and quantum dot TV is the opposite.

       OLED and quantum dot TV, who represents the future of color TV? At present, there are two viewpoints: one thinks that only OLED organic TV can represent the future of color TV; another view is that quantum dot TV can also realize curling and folding, and even printing and manufacturing. In the future, the development direction of color TV may be "double head". The "snake" pattern, the two major directions go hand in hand. But overall, the voice of the former is clearly higher than the latter.

       Since 2016, OLED has left the most impressive impression on people. It is an increasingly colorful electric enterprise entering the field of OLED TV. At the IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, Germany, many mainstream color TV companies demonstrated the latest OLED TV products. The OLED product lineup is significantly larger than 2015.

       South Korea's two major color TV giants Samsung and LG are constantly reducing their LCD panel production capacity to free up production capacity to transform into OLED.

       In the capital market, the OLED sector has continued to be sought after since 2015, and the stock value has performed well.

       As the global technology company's vane, Apple has decided to introduce OLED panel mobile phones in 2017 and introduce OLED mobile phones in large areas in 2018. The demonstration effect of Apple and Samsung has been released in advance, and Chinese companies have launched OLED screen phones.

       After Hon Hai's overall acquisition of "the father of LCD" Sharp, the first fund was invested in OLED, and the urgency of Guo Taiming's layout of OLED is evident.

       At present, the status of the global OLED industry can be described as “the whole industry chain is simultaneously exerted”; in contrast, the layout of enterprises around quantum dot TV is much smaller and the resource input is limited.

       In fact, the above is not the most critical, what is the most critical? It is the quantum dot TV that is only in the true sense of the present, and it is still in the water.

       According to the information provided by TCL, a mainstream color TV company in China, quantum dot TV (the second-generation quantum dot TV, sometimes called QLED) in the true sense, has entered the stage of production from R&D in three years, and has realized the productization of printing technology five years later. .

       The so-called "quantum dot TV" currently on the market is accurately called "quantum dot backlight LCD TV". More insiders pointed out that the current quantum dot TV on the market is actually one of the many color gamut enhancement technologies of LCD TVs, and the LCD TVs that ULED and GLED do not call "quantum dots" are essentially the same.

Quantum dot TV in the true sense can only come out in 3-5 years


TCL explains the generation of quantum dot TVs like this:

Lu Xiangde, president of the LGD OLED business unit, explains the relationship between OLED and quantum dots:

1. The second-generation quantum dot TV can also self-illuminate, and in theory can realize the advantages of OLED TV.

2, QLED (ie, the second generation of quantum dot television) uses inorganic substances, although the principle of illumination is similar to OLED, but also need to ensure the reliability of QD components and the development of water-soluble printing engineering technology. Therefore, QLED materials and equipment need to be developed for the production of QLED TVs. It is expected that commercialization will take 4-5 years.

3, QLED TV is only suitable for printing display technology, and OLED can be applied to both evaporation and printing display technology.


If, as mentioned above, the true quantum dot TV can only come out in 3-5 years, it means that quantum dot TV is not on the same starting line as OLED TV. OLED has obvious first-mover advantage, and quantum dot TV is fundamental. Can't compete with OLED TV.

This is like running a marathon for two people. One person ran for three hours in advance, and the other person could hardly catch up with the person in front even if he ran faster.

What's more, OLED is also developing. Who can say that after 3-5 years, OLED TVs are not more mature, better quality, and lower cost? It can not be said that OLED TV has entered the consumer family on a large scale, and has completed the full occupation of the market. As a quantum dot TV for newborns, can it be an OLED TV wristband that has grown into a young person?

It can be seen that the future situation of quantum dot TV is not optimistic, and it has to face the topping trend of OLED soldiers. In this regard, capital and quantum dot material suppliers are more aware than anyone else, and it is not difficult to understand the first to flee.

"Not only Sheng Yu, He Shengliang." If it was not in the same era as OLED, quantum dot TV must be a very good product. Unfortunately, it was born in the same era as OLED.

In addition, current quantum dot technology is not mature and has many drawbacks. The core of quantum dot technology is to use quantum effect to convert blue light into relatively pure red and green light, thus improving the color gamut of the screen. However, in the conversion process, except for part of the light energy can be converted, most of it is converted into heat energy, so the brightness reduce.

However, in order to avoid this problem, some quantum dot televisions will increase the number of LED lights in order to increase the brightness, so the functional loss is increased, and the stimulation to the human eye is intensified.

At the CES show in Las Vegas on January 8, 2015, TCL and EMG have teamed up to showcase China's first quantum dot TV-TCL 55” 4K ultra-high definition quantum dot TV. The solution was developed by EMG to TCL.

At the beginning of 2014, QDVision and Yimeixinguang mentioned at the beginning of the article announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that they will cooperate to provide LED and ColorIQ quantum dot optical integrated components.

From the current industry situation, the future market capacity of LED enterprises' quantum dot technology still depends on the technical route selection of downstream TV host manufacturers.
