The 2017 World Endurance Championship concluded at the Bahrain International Circuit. While the LMP1 category wrapped up early, the LMP2 race became the highlight of the season. The No. 38 car, driven by Dong Hebin, was just four points behind their main rival, which meant they had to push hard to secure the title. Throughout the race, the team followed a strict strategy: no collisions, no mistakes, and no retreat. Dong Hebin quickly took the lead and maintained a strong position for nearly four hours, holding a 50-second advantage. However, in the final hour, a fuel system failure forced an unexpected pit stop, costing them precious time. As a result, the No. 31 car finished 10 seconds ahead, claiming the championship.

Despite this close call, the Yaolai Jackie DC team achieved remarkable success throughout the season. Over eight months and nine races, they consistently competed at the top level, winning three championships. Most notably, they took second place in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing second and third in key races. For a team that had only been together for one year, this was a huge accomplishment. Dong Hebin and his Chinese team earned admiration from both competitors and fans around the world.
