iPad3 will lead to a sharp increase in tablet resolution

Market research company DisplaySearch said that the iPad3 released in the first quarter of next year should help the display quality of tablet PCs to improve significantly.

According to their forecast data, the number of pixels per inch (PPI) of the tablet PC at the end of 2011 surged to 191 at the beginning of 2012. Two flat-panel displays shipped this fall will accelerate the PPI surge, including a 1920x1200 10-inch display that has been used in the Iconia Tab A700 tablet and a 9.7-inch 2048x1536 display. It will be used in Apple's new iPad3 tablet.

The researchers said that PPI will reach 203 in the spring of 2012. In the summer, this number will increase to 212. Samsung is considered part of the PPI surge plan because it intends to introduce a flat panel display of 2560x1600 resolution and may be used in the future in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
