Taiwan's successful university successfully developed aluminum nitride substrate technology to greatly improve the thermal conductivity of LED modules

    As the brightness of LEDs increases, existing alumina substrates are gradually unable to load thermal energy, while aluminum nitride has high thermal conductivity, and is excellent for high-power or ultra-high-power LED heat-dissipating substrates, but it is expensive and not widely marketed. Accepted and over-reliance on foreign imports. The aluminum nitride synthesis technology jointly developed by Chengda and Jinlu Co., Ltd. was developed by Zhong Xianlong, a professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering. At present, the technology has been commercially available for mass production and has obtained a number of patents outside Taiwan.

    The innovative technology of Professor Zhong's laboratory is to place aluminum powder in a cryogenic vessel (made of aluminum foil), which is directly converted into an aluminum nitride product during the reaction, without the problem of container contamination or how to remove the product from the container. The conversion rate of the synthetic technology can reach 99.9% or more, the product purity is high, the process is simple, and the mass production is easy to be enlarged. Aluminum nitride is resistant to chemical attack, thermal shock, thermal conductivity and is not affected by cold and heat. It is suitable for various industries. Currently, it is mainly used in IC and LED packaging. The most important thing is LED packaging materials and Ceramic substrate.

    If Taiwan's aluminum nitride can be mass-produced, the new process will effectively reduce costs, the LED industry is expected to benefit, and enhance the visibility of high-power LED applications in the field of lighting.
