CSR and Rx Networks cooperate to develop eGPS and predictive GPS positioning technology

Wireless technology provider CSR, in conjunction with private mobile positioning technology and global service company Rx Networks, has announced the launch of a GPS solution that combines eGPS (Enhanced Global Positioning System) and GPStream technology. This solution combines GPS fine-time and frequency assist functions with comprehensive assist functions to make its mobile positioning performance exceed the standard assisted GPS (Assisted-GPS) used in non-synchronized GSM and W-CDMA networks or synchronous CDMA networks. .

Through this cooperation, local devices can provide precise time, frequency assistance and ephemeris assistance functions at any time, and there is no need to communicate with the server in real time. It can shorten the network delay of more than 15 seconds for mobile phone applications, and fully comply with various A-GPS industry standards, such as SUPL 1.0.

Both CSR and Rx Networks can operate carrier-grade service infrastructure, and provide Rx Networks' GPStream expansion ephemeris technology through these infrastructures. GPStream PGPS and SAGPS produce continuous satellite predictions, while eGPS can provide fine time and frequency assistance functions from the local. The combination of these technologies greatly shortens the positioning time and improves GPS sensitivity. When the positioning time has the highest priority, ideal GPS performance can be obtained even outside the network coverage. Through the partnership between the two parties, CSR and Rx Networks are now able to provide OEM manufacturers with the lowest cost and most flexible GPS solution and apply it to personal navigation devices (PND) and mobile phones to achieve the longest battery standby time and The fastest and usable everywhere.

Richard Lee, EVP Business Development Department of Rx Networks, said: "CSR's eGPS is an important development for in-depth and ubiquitous mobile GPS assist technology. As more companies support eGPS, its application will become more active. We It ’s a great pleasure to join the eGPS ecosystem, and some of our customers, partners, and potential customers are also members of the system. "

Stuart Strickland, vice president of CSR ’s LBS business unit, said: “Rx Networks’ GPStream products and technologies are a perfect complement to the CSR positioning product portfolio and provide an important element that can assist our GPS chips and eGPS software products. ”
