Solid State Drive Shannon: SanDisk Hair Straightener

This year in the circle, if you don't have a SSD, you're embarrassed to say hello. SanDisk flash memory giant SanDisk announced two new series of high-performance SSDs, Extreme and X100, today.

Extreme series uses 2.5-inch standard specifications, transmission interface SATA 6Gbps, available capacity 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, read and write power consumption is only 0.6W, but the specific main control chip and flash chip types are not disclosed.

Performance and reliability vary depending on the capacity, and it does not necessarily have a large capacity -

Random write: 83000 IOPS
Average time between failures: 250 million hours 240GB:

Average time between failures: 1.4 million hours SanDisk also claims that the SSD performance is ten times that of a 7200 rpm mechanical drive and can start Windows systems in less than 16 seconds.

The 120GB and 240GB models are available now, with suggested retail prices of $189.99 and $399.99. The 480GB model ships later this year, with a suggested retail price of $749.99.
