June 11, 2014 - NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ: NXPI) today announced a new family of single-stage driver digital ICs for compact, high efficiency, high performance and extreme A cost effective general LED lighting solution. The new platform includes the SSL5301T, SSL5306T, SSL5307T, SSL5511T and SSL5101T LED driver solutions from 4 W to 50 W lamp power, complementing NXP's GreenChip SSL product line. All products are available in a compact and economical SO-8 package. Among them, SSL5301/6/7, for the Eurasian region with complex dimmers, has super-emphasis light compatibility; and the price of its overall drive electronic components has not increased.
This family of products is suitable for buck, buck/boost or flyback, non-isolated or isolated topologies and includes three selectable modes: low ripple, economical low THD (PF 0.75) or Low THD (PF 0.9). These solutions also offer precise LED current and line regulation, wall switch compatibility, and built-in indicators for standby operation. The LED driver IC is designed to be powered directly from the internal JFET current source using a high voltage (HV) supply and integrates all necessary protection functions.
The SSL5301T, SSL5306T, and SSL5307T single-stage LED driver ICs are designed and optimized for commercial tunable (off-phase dimmable) LED driver solutions. The SSL5301/06/07T detects all known mains dimmer types and converts dimmer settings to continuous LED current in a number of ways. This means that these products have extremely high dimmer compatibility and are suitable for use with voltage dividers.
The SSL5301T, SSL5511, and SSL5101 drive external switches for easy power regulation up to 50 W lamp power. The SSL5306T and SSL5307T integrate 700V/10Ω MOSFETs to support a compact 10MW lamp power solution. The SSL5306T is designed for buck topology and the SSL5307T is designed for buck/boost topologies and will be in volume production in the third quarter of 2014.
The SSL5511T is a compact single-stage LED driver IC for off-line dimmable LED driver solutions with control input signals for dimming remote control and smart fixtures. The SSL5101T is designed for use in non-dimmable LED luminaire solutions or higher power isolated LED retrofit lamp solutions.
